The Iranian American Community Alliance is proud to present the Annual Norooz Celebration of 2012! Come enjoy great traditional Persian dance and music, followed by an amazing dance party. Celebrate another year of the Persian calendar, and connect with other Iranians and Iranian-Americans from the greater Seattle area. Appetizers and drinks will be served. All proceeds will go to support the 6th Annual Iranian Festival. This is an all ages event.

Improvisational Iranian Music – Saturday Oct. 8, 2011
Hadi Karimi Asil and Ahmad Yousefbeigi, both native Iranians, met at a musical gathering in Seattle in 2010. After playing together for several minutes- Hadi on Tar (a Persian fretted string instrument) and Ahmad on Tonbak (a carved goblet drum) – they realized their approach to music was very similar. Their musical storytelling is completely improvised, engaging and conversational; it depends on the moment and no two performances are identical. Their first improvised performance at the 2011 Northwest Folklife Festival received a standing ovation.
