IACA Co-chair AJ is an Iranian American born and raised here in Seattle. He has had the wonderful experience of growing up in his family's coffee houses downtown. AJ is the first in his family to attend a four year university. He will graduate spring 2007 from the UW Business School in Finance & Marketing. AJ made the journey to Iran for the first time, with his father, when he was 19, which is the same age his father was when he first came to the US. Summer 2006, AJ went for a second time to Iran, on his own, for two months. He has been fortunate enough to have walked the footsteps of his father from Iran to America. He now clearly sees and appreciates where his family has come from, so that he can better see where he is going in his future. AJ is blessed to have two amazing families on each side of the world that both have so much love for him. Growing up, AJ was lucky enough to have a strong Iranian American community. He calls most of his father's good friends Amoo (uncle), which means a great deal to him. In AJ’s words, “Today we see a beautiful Iranian American community with endless opportunities, but we envision a stronger and unified community tomorrow, for all to see. Join us.” |
